Allergies & Medical Action Plans

Seasonal Allergies

With a bit of welcomed warmth returning to the Western District and the excitement of Spring around the corner, also comes the return of Seasonal allergies eg. Hayfever.

There are many non-drowsy antihistamines, nasal sprays and eye drops available as a prescription and over the counter that can help ease symptoms. Many of these medicines can be taken at home once a day.

Monivae is unable to supply antihistamines to students and it is the responsibility of the (parent / carer) to provide the school with the prescribed or ‘over the counter’ medication.

If your child requires the administration of medication at school, please supply the school with the attached medical advice form.

Medication brought to school for staff administration should have:

  1. The name of the medication supplied in its original packaging without damage.
  2. Time the medication is to be taken
  3. How the medication is to be taken.
  4. The date the medication is required or whether it is ongoing. Must also be within the expiry date.
  5. Have the Medical Authority Form completed (see attached) and supplied with the medication.

With Spring only weeks away, it is also a great time ensure students have a current allergy and / or asthma management plan so we can assist with their care in the best possible way. See attachment below.
