INSPIRING CURIOUS MINDS
It was wonderful to see so many Dads and special people at the breakfast this morning! There was a real buzz up on the terrace which provided respite from the drizzly morning. The food was absolutely incredible, and so much fun was had with games, photo opportunities and Fathers’ Day craft. A HUGE thanks and congratulations to Kaman, Catherine and Hyunkyung along with the small army of helpers for organising and preparing such an amazing event. Thank you for feeding our souls!!
This term we have being focusing, as a staff, on the High Impact Teaching Strategy of ‘Differentiation’. Professional learning has focused on how the content, process, product and environment can be adjusted to allow every student to access the curriculum and have success, at their point of need. Last week, we also engaged in professional learning facilitated by Chrissie Davies around neurodiversity. This was complemented by a parent/carer information session.
To make sure we’re ready for emergencies, we practise drills at school each term. Today, we practised a ‘Lockdown’ drill. Schools may need to lockdown for a multitude of reasons. We try to avoid creating any unnecessary anxiety around this and discuss reasons such as smoke in the air or an animal on the loose. Our staff and students did a wonderful job of locking doors and hiding quietly, out of sight today. If you happen to arrive at school during a drill, please note that you will not be able to enter the premises until the 'all clear' has been given.
A reminder that all parent/carer volunteers must sign in at the office, prior to entering classrooms. Volunteers should also receive and wear a lanyard as a way to monitor visitors onsite. This means that if you drop your child off in the morning and are staying to volunteer, you will need to come to the office to sign in. If there is an evacuation, we need to cross-reference the Compass sign in register with those visitors at the evacuation space. Thank you for your support with this.
If you have a Prep starting school next year, please note that enrolments are now due. You can access the form via the website or collect one from the office.
Happy Fathers’ Day to all the Dads, Grandpas and special people on Sunday!
