ARTIST OF THE WEEK

Well done to Julie from 5CC and Emily and Maddison from 2JG for creating our beautiful Artist of the Week artworks for Weeks 4 and 5.

Maddi and Emily worked together to make this Howard Arkley inspired artwork of the blue basketball courts and nearby classrooms at Milgate. They used a photo reference, drew with black permanent marker in Howard’s style, and applied stencilling to create patterns in his signature vivid colours. It’s great to see students collaborating and working well together to achieve fabulous results!

Julie created this landscape painting in the impressionist style, using her observations of landscape paintings by Arthur Streeton. She was focusing on showing depth through a background, middleground and foreground, as well as using loose brushstrokes like the impressionist painters do. This is in preparation for a Year 5 “en plein air” excursion where students will be painting outdoors in Currawong Bush Park.
