FranklinCovey Team Visitors
On Tuesday a National team from FranklinCovey spent 5 hours at Le Page Primary School. There was a student led tour, classroom visits, teaching observations of lessons e.g., The Emotional Bank Account in 12A and Inquiry in 34A. The students F-6 performed the school song and a moving performance led by Miss Susie and Richard Earl. The team also reviewed student and staff outcomes data according to the Measurable Results Assessment. The MRA is a rigorously developed tool used to annually collect, analyse, and report student, staff, and school-level outcomes related to the focus on improving leadership, culture, and academics. It can be used to help a school identify its strengths and weaknesses, develop improvement plans, and monitor progress. The data reflects an improvement trend with percentage rates in the 80s and 90s, with student and staff positively endorsed responses.
2024 Planning
The School Improvement Team has been working on the 2024 curriculum with a major focus on literacy and numeracy, considering current improvement and evidence-based approaches. Scope and sequence has always been the framework. This will create a solid and relevant scaffold for the teachers to follow and draw from, when planning termly, weekly and daily programs.
Kingston Before and After-School Care
Kingston has serviced the Le Page Primary School community since 2019. As the student enrolments have increased, parents using the program have repeatedly voiced concerns around casual bookings. A parent survey confirmed that this was the only but major concern. Term 1 2024, Village Before and After-School Care will replace the Kingston service. The Kingston staff and programs are outstanding, and the students have been stimulated and engaged. The Kingston team has always been highly professional and a pleasure to work with. The service provided care, even when the school had less than the minimum students registered. This in turn, supported families and helped increase enrolments. Village registration and rates will be forthcoming in Term 4.
Footy Colours Day
Tomorrow being the last day of school for Term 3, and the last day of school before the AFL Grand Final, students may come to school in their team colours. The Social and Fundraising team has organised a sausage sizzle for lunch to add to the students and staff’s enjoyment.
David’s Schmidt’s Farewell
Way before coming to Le Page Primary School, David travelled a memorable career path, in particular in Education. Tomorrow we will come together at our assembly and farewell and celebrate our most loved crossing supervisor David. He has been an icon for those who cross Argus Street each day on their way to and from school. David’s signature accessory was the horn he sounded as the students passed by. It has been a pleasure getting to know David. He will continue as the Community Member of the School Council. We wish David all the best in his retirement.
Lost Property
Parents are encouraged to visit the lost property stations in the main building and BER building. Many items are not labelled, making it impossible for staff to return them to the students.
Principal Taking Personal Leave
Courtney Mason will be acting principal for the first three weeks of Term 4. I will be taking personal leave.
Sun Smart
In Term 4, students will be required to wear their school hats during outdoor activities and break times.
Thought For the Week
“I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life, and that is why I succeed.” Michael Jordan
I hope everyone has the chance to sharpen the saw over the next two weeks. I wish safe travels for those going on adventures. I wish a peaceful time for those staying at home with loved ones and friends.
