Amazing 5/6

Term 3 Week 10  2023

From the Teachers

Another term down and I feel like this one has really flown by. With camp, athletics, health programs, Book Weeks and even some actual teaching, we are all really looking forward to a break.

I really want to congratulate the students on their attitude and their resilience in the last couple of weeks as we wind down. Their participation and interest in their inquiry projects and dioramas, the care and kindness they showed their prep and kindergarten buddies and the way they look out for one another has been really pleasing to see. With one more term to go, it is important that we all come back focused and ready so that we can end the year on a real high, especially for our finishing Year 6’s.

Have a nice holiday everyone!

From the Students

Hi, my name is Clement, and I am a leader in chess and Go Chess and my name is Kiri and I am a leader in Baldy.

In Writing, we participated in the Fish Creek Writing Competition. My story (Clement) was about a boy who had a dream of being a singer. In Inquiry, we started a project on natural disasters. We had to write a report that was longer than 300 words and build a two staged diorama. We (Kiri and Clement) did our project on the 1960 Valdivian earthquake. For the report, we had to four paragraphs: before, during and after the earthquake and information about the location.

Two weeks ago, we were on camp, it was a golden opportunity to have fun whilst being separated from our families. It was hard because our families were not there, but everybody coped very well whilst having fun. There were no arguments. My highlight (Clement) was the GPS tracking activity because we got to use real GPS to track pins and collect them. I was the only one who collected every single pin in the whole event, so I was very happy. Another highlight was the canoeing because I spotted a very rare kingfisher that was called the Azure Kingfisher.

My highlight (Kiri) was the high ropes course, and I finished it! Canoeing was my biggest challenge.
