A message from the School of Entrepreneurs Head of School

Dear Parents, Carers and Students,

Welcome to the 2026 academic year! I hope everyone in our community had a joyous Christmas season and a well deserved break from the busyness of 2025.

School of Entrepreneurs 2026 Motto

To Become…

Learners persevere even when no one is watching

As we step into 2026, the School of Entrepreneurs builds on the strong foundation laid in 2025.

Last year’s motto, “Effort Opens the Door, Mastery Strives for More,” challenged students to understand that growth comes through effort, practice, persistence, and resilience. Students learned that progress is not the result of luck or talent alone, it is deliberate. When they commit to improving, opportunities open. The key belief was simple but powerful:

If I put in the work, I can get better and that creates choices for my future.

In 2026, we embark on the next step.

This year’s motto shifts the focus from what students can achieve to who they are becoming.

From Achievement to Character

The 2026 motto, “To Become… Learners Persevere Even When No One Is Watching” speaks to character, integrity, and self-drive.

It reminds our students that real growth is not just about performance or recognition. It’s about who they are when there is no audience.

No teacher sees every study session. No parent sees every decision. No one applauds the quiet effort.

And yet, that is exactly where growth happens.

The Core of “Becoming”

This year is about developing:

  • Inner Strength – Choosing the hard path consistently; focusing on the 1% improvements.
  • Integrity – Acting with honesty and effort, even in private.
  • Self-Discipline – Managing time, focus, and distractions.
  • Ownership – Taking responsibility for learning without waiting to be reminded.

Students are reminded that their future is not shaped by a few big moments. It is shaped by the small, daily decisions made when it would be easier not to try.

The Connection to 2025

In 2025, students learned that mastery opens doors.

In 2026, they learn that the kind of person they become determines which doors they walk through and how far they go once they do.

This year is not about being perfect. It is not about being the best in the room.

It is about who you are when it is just them and the work.

When students keep going because the task is meant to be challenging…When they choose discipline over distraction…When they persevere without being chased…

That is when they are becoming:

  • Someone strong in capacity and mindset
  • Someone capable
  • Someone who understands what hard work truly feels like
  • Someone who is ready for the future

We look forward to continuing the partnership with families as we guide our young entrepreneurs not only toward success, but toward becoming individuals of strength, character and purpose.

What’s been happening in SOE?

Religious Education

Year 9

Students in Year 9 wonder, in light of the revolutionary words and actions of Jesus, if it is right to challenge authority. This term's learning invites students to discern and interpret the relevance and impact of Jesus’ actions through the lens of Hermeneutics.

Hermeneutics might sound like a complex term, but at its core, it’s all about interpretation of texts.  In the context of the Bible, hermeneutics refers to the methods and principles we use to interpret scripture. This discipline is essential for anyone looking to dive deeper into the meaning of biblical texts and apply them to their lives.

This new skill that students will apply in their SOE experience of Religion will awaken their understanding of the challenges and provide hope-filled opportunities of following the way of Jesus in our contemporary culture.

Year 10

Students in Year 10 wonder about the significance of love and social media.

At the moment, they have been discussing the difference between authentic and superficial relationships in their lives.

Students will be focusing on how technology positively and negatively affects these relationships and how to discern and develop an authentic relationship through the lens of Jesus Christ and his sacrificial love.

PDHPE

Year 10

This term in PDHPE, Year 10 students are exploring the unit "Healthy Inside Out," which focuses on the driving question: "How can I regulate my emotions to improve my mental/overall health?". Throughout the unit, students are examining the skills and attitudes that build resilience, such as self-regulation and maintaining a realistic perspective during times of change.

By engaging with various diagnostic tools and digital platforms, students are reflecting on their own wellbeing and sharing insights into the unique mental health challenges faced by young people today. To put these concepts into practice, students are analyzing case studies of inspiring individuals who have overcome significant adversity, including figures like Nick Vujicic and Bethany Hamilton. They are using these examples to develop "Resilience Profiles" and "Transition Survival Guides," helping them identify positive management strategies for stress, loss, and grief.

We are excited to work with and support our Year 10 students in Term 1, 2026.

Year 10 VET Hospitality

The Year 10 hospitality students have returned to school for the 2026 year ready to get started in their Coffee unit. They will begin with gaining an understanding of the process of how coffee is grown and work through the process until they can combine beautifully textured milk with aromatic espresso to produce a series of industry standard beverages. The students had fun in their first lesson practicing the texturing process by using water and soap. This allows them to have extensive attempts whilst remaining cost effective and being sustainable at the same time .
