Specialist Happenings

Visual Arts
We are very excited about our upcoming Community Arts Fair (4 - 8 pm, gates close 8:30 pm) on March 27th! It's going to be HUGE! Please spread the word far and wide, friends, family, anywhere you go! Everyone is welcome. We are having the student art show with food trucks, local artists stalls, activities for the kids, student dance performances, professional entertainment and bands, as well as a bar and a professionally curated adult art show by The Window Sandringham. This is going to be one epic showcase of our kid's creativity and our community.

HAPPY HORSE YEAR! 马年快乐!
This week in Mandarin, we celebrated the Chinese New Year! Students learned about the traditions and meaning behind the festival, including zodiac animals, lucky colours, and festive customs. They also created some wonderful Chinese New Year craft activities, showing great creativity and enthusiasm.
It has been lovely to see students engaging with the culture and enjoying this special celebration.

Physical Education
Level F- 2
In PE this term, our F-2 students have been developing their teamwork skills through a range of cooperative activities and minor games. They are learning how to communicate clearly, encourage their peers, and play fairly. A strong focus has been placed on understanding rules, taking responsibility for their actions, and showing respect in both winning and losing situations.
Level 3 & 4
In Levels 3 and 4, students are strengthening their ability to work effectively in teams during a variety of group challenges and small-sided games. We are focusing on collaboration, positive communication, inclusion, and respectful behaviour. Students are continuing to develop good sportsmanship by supporting one another and demonstrating fairness and integrity in competitive situations.
Level 5 and 6
In Levels 5 and 6, we are preparing for Interschool Sports by developing our teamwork skills, learning to encourage one another, and demonstrating positive sportsmanship. We have been strengthening these qualities through a variety of team-based activities, including relay games, where cooperation, communication, and support are essential for success.
Science
Foundation
Foundation students are using their 5 senses to observe the needs of Living Things, starting with food.
Level 1 & 2
Level 1 & 2 children have started their investigation of Force - Push or Pull. They have created a fabulous example of push and pull. Ask your child to show you their work and to explain how it shows Push and Pull.
Level 3 & 4
Level 3s have refined their use of the 5 senses through experiments, including smelling different scents and attempting to detect the fragrance.
Level 4 have started their scientific illustrations, sketching insects by considering geometric shapes that help to improve the accuracy of their diagrams.
Level 5 & 6
Level 5 have learnt the skill of using a microscope, adjusting the magnification to observe the detail in sand and flowers. Students have also considered different units of meaure, creating their own Cubit (ancient Egyptian measurement tool).
Level 6 have studied many different illusions to focus their attention on the importance of more than one observation. They have observed the properties of tea bags and tasted the subtle nuances of different tea flavours to sharpen their senses.
