Dear Level 3 Parents and Caregivers,

RRRR Program

This week we looked at Consent and what it means. This is an important lesson for students to understand it is about asking permission to do something. In the context of the lesson it was about asking permission before we make physical contact with someone. For example giving hugs, holding hands, pushing friends down the slide, tickling etc. To practise the skill of saying 'no' to physical contact or being within someone's personal space, we watched and sang this song about 'Boundaries'. All teachers are watching out for students setting their own boundaries as part of our calm and inclusive classroom and playground routines.

Literacy

In Core Literacy we have been practising hearing and locating the 'schwa' sound in words. We have revised the different spelling patterns and practised reading and writing words. If you have a chance please watch the following video about the Great Asutralian Schwa.

In Reading we have been answering comprehension questions to show our understanding of the different text types and looking at how NAPLAN questions are set out. We have worked out that they are set out in a similar way to other online testing we have completed in the past. In Writing we have been focusing on the planning process - how to generate ideas and how to develop charaters descriptions. We have been using our Performing Arts skills to act out our characters so we have a vivid picture in our minds before we write.

Every week we are building our skills so we have a smooth and calm approach to the NAPLAN testing period. Next week we will explore the NAPLAN app on the iPads so we know what it will look like and what features are included. We will be working with Miss Parsons to help us along the way and to solve any technical questions.
