Prep News

Our Prep students have made a fantastic start to the school year and have settled in beautifully. They are becoming more confident each day as they learn new routines, make friends, and explore their classroom environment. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm for learning as they dive into numbers and letters, building strong foundations in literacy and numeracy.

The Preps especially enjoyed exploring the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff, participating in discussions, retelling the tale, and engaging in fun related activities. A highlight for many was making “tiger toast,” which combined creativity with hands-on learning. Sharing their baby pictures was another special moment, helping students learn more about each other and celebrate how much they have grown.

In addition to classroom learning, the Preps have loved participating in PE, Music, and STEM lessons. They are off to a terrific start, and we are so proud of how well they have settled into school life!

Years 1/2 Numeracy

In Year 1 and 2, students are developing essential numeracy skills such as counting, addition, subtraction, understanding place value and recognising shapes and patterns. Playing games and taking part in hands-on activities, such as using counters, number lines, dice and practical resources, make learning fun and meaningful. These interactive experiences help children explore mathematical ideas in a concrete way, build confidence, and develop problem-solving and reasoning skills.

By strengthening their number sense through active learning, they are better prepared for more complex mathematical concepts in later years. Students in Year 1 and 2 are exploring two dimensional shapes in the world around them this term. Here are some pictures they created using circles and other 2D shapes.

Years 3/4 Update

It has been a wonderful start to 2026 for our Year 3/4 students! Students began the year with much excitement and joy as they reconnected with old friends and made new ones. They have quickly settled into their new classes and daily routines.

A special welcome to our new students - Edie, Isaac, Joshua, Shona and Xavier! In Integrated Studies, we have launched into our topic, ‘Australia – Land Down Under’. Students have been identifying famous landmarks — including some we have been lucky enough to visit — and researching interesting facts about Australia’s states and territories. We look forward to continuing our exploration of this amazing country!

Leadership Formation Day

Our Primary Captains embraced Leadership Formation Day as they unpacked their roles, participated in team building challenges, trained as Peacemakers to support fellow students, and learnt meaningful leadership lessons from Mr Munyard, Mrs Wilson, and Mr Green. Thank you to all involved for a meaningful and valuable learning experience for our 2026 Primary Captains.

Sower/CEN Leadership Conference

On the 16th of February, all of the Year 6 leaders went to Life Ministry Church at Oxley College. We all had an exciting day with games, praising, learning and experiencing how other leaders became who they are. With some very inspiring stories, we have all become more confident in our leadership abilities.

One of the people we learnt from was a lady named Eloise Wellings. She was an Olympian in 2016. She inspired us all to never give up. Throughout the day, we looked at what our different strengths are as leaders and what we need assistance with.

We also learnt that it does not matter who you are; anybody can be a leader. Overall, we really enjoyed the experience of going to the CEN/Sower Primary Leadership Conference for 2026.

Jogging Club is Up and Running!

Our Jogging Club continues to be a great way for students to build fitness, perseverance, and healthy habits in a fun and supportive environment.

When:

  • Monday lunchtimes – 12:50pm–1:12pm (on the oval)
  • Friday mornings – 8:15am–8:45am (on the oval)

Students are encouraged to come along, set personal goals, and challenge themselves to improve each week. Whether they choose to jog, run, or walk, everyone is welcome… it’s all about participation and doing their best.

Parents are warmly invited to join us on Friday mornings for a great start to the day!

We look forward to seeing lots of students (and parents) out on the oval soon. Jogging Club is a fantastic way to stay active, build resilience, and have some fun with friends.
