I was delighted to attend the recent launch of AngliSchools’ Strategy 2030 – a document which informs our system’s vision and strategic direction over the upcoming five years.

Strategy 2030 articulates a vision that resonates strongly with the direction set at Trinity. Both frameworks reflect a shared conviction that our schools are not simply educational institutions, but vibrant Anglican communities shaped by faith, purpose and service.

Strategy 2030 affirms AngliSchools’ deep commitment to living an authentic Anglican identity and to forming young people who are thoughtful, compassionate and courageous — aspirations that sit at the very heart of Trinity Anglican College’s strategic priorities.

Importantly, the Strategy recognises the profound responsibility entrusted to AngliSchools: not merely to deliver strong academic outcomes, but to nurture faith, champion inclusion and pursue excellence with integrity.

These sentiments come to life through our shared Values of Faith, Inclusion, Respect and Excellence — captured in the acronym FIRE.  More than aspirational language, these are enduring Anglican commitments, deeply grounded in the life and tradition of the Church. Like the flame at Pentecost, they are values that animate our communities and inspire our schools to live their mission with courage and purpose.

The Most Reverend Kay Goldsworthy, Archbishop of Perth said on this occasion:

In Scripture, fire is never casual. It’s the sign of God’s holy presence. It burns in the bush before Moses. It leads Israel through the wilderness. In the New Testament, it rests on the frightened disciples at Pentecost, transforming them into a courageous, outward-facing community.

In Acts, after Jesus’ resurrection, the apostles are unsure, waiting, praying, uncertain of the future. Then the Holy Spirit comes “like tongues of fire”. The Spirit comes not to consume them, but to animate them.

To send them. To form them into a community of resurrection hope.

That image is so fitting one for AngliSchools as we walk toward 2030.

A fire within, a light for others.
