YEAR 6

FROM THE TEAM

What a great week! Students have enjoyed completing our suspense narrative unit in Writing, creating engaging and thoughtful stories. They used Toolkit 1 to slow the action with sentences of three and dropped-in clauses, and Toolkit 2 to add depth by making characters hear, see, touch, smell, or sense something ominous, which really brought their stories to life.

In Mathematics, students strengthened their understanding of factors, prime and composite numbers, and explored square numbers, practising calculations and applying their knowledge to solve and simplify number problems. In Reading, they continued developing skills by identifying themes, inferring meaning, summarising texts, and exploring how authors’ vocabulary choices influence meaning and emotion.

During Inquiry, students investigated why Australia was known as “The Lucky Country” and the impact of British and European migration, deepening their understanding of how migration has shaped Australia’s history.
