This Thursday the College was awash with yellow as we came together to recognise R U OK? Day. Held annually in September this National Day of Action encourages meaningful conversations about mental health. The organisation seeks to empower and provide tools to facilitate connections with those who may be struggling.
Students donned their best yellow accessories as a visual symbol of their support and commitment. During Personal Development and Wellbeing and Foundation lessons, students further engaged with age-appropriate activities designed to upskill them in all aspects of checking in with their friends, actively listening and where to find support.
To round it off, and put these newfound skills into action, students came together at morning tea and lunch for a fun, musical game of conversation starters. Shared passions, fun facts and excited chatter filled the air as students took the opportunity to extend beyond their cohorts and converse with a wide range of their peers.
As the saying goes, every day is R U OK? Day and we encourage every member of our College community, to continue fostering connections through conversations and check-ins. A timely reminder that if you or someone you know needs support, please reach out to the respective Head of Year, the College Counsellor or any other trusted member of staff.
Last week for the final Thinker’s Challenge activity, students in Pastoral Care groups were challenged to create a vision board illustrating their vision for Brisbane in ten years’ time. They were encouraged to write, draw, and include images that reflected creativity, sustainability, cultural consideration, and a clear sense of vision and purpose. The activity sparked thoughtful conversations about the future of our city and inspired students to think big about the role they can play in shaping it.
While this was happening, our House debating teams prepared for debates based on topical issues, sharpening their critical thinking and persuasive speaking skills.

The conference featured a wide range of workshops and panel discussions exploring how technology continues to shape modern schools.
Key sessions included:
Maintaining Privacy in Pastoral Care and Streamlining Action Systems
Clayfield College was proudly represented by Mrs Lauren Coote, Mr Sri Pogaku and Mr Jacques Stemmet. We extend a special thanks to Clayfield College for its ongoing investment in staff development and operational digital systems. This commitment ensures that our community remains at the forefront of innovation, and we continue to uphold our commitment to enhancing teaching, learning, and wellbeing for all students.
