Students from grades 3-6 have been exploring Boomwackers and recorders (year 3). Students were given mystery songs and as a group work collaboratively to play the note accurately to work out the mystery song! Some songs were tricky to work out and lots of persistence was needed to work as a group.

Term 4 will see the students working on the following things:

Year 3 - recorder karate

Year 4 - elements and creative group projects (think K-Pop)

Year 5 - ukulele

Year 6 - creating their own jingle (words and music)

STEAM UPDATE

Term 3 has been very busy! Grade Prep have explored engineering challenges based on story books. They created the names in lego that could stand up all by themselves, built bridges to go help the billy goats Gruff across the river safely and are in the process of designing and creating their own monsters out of card board, they are starting to look amazing!

Here are some of their bridges.

Grade 1 have been exploring Beebots by coding them to move in squares and rectangles and to move to visit animals in the zoo. Left and right turns from the beebots perspective has been quite a challenge for them but lots of laughs as zebra, giraffes and monkeys were run over on their way to visit their animal. They started to create some great artwork by having Beebot draw their design first.

Grade 2 have been exploring attraction and repulsion using magents and finding out which items are attracted to the magnet and which are not. They are currently working on following the Design process to create a game using magnets. When making the various pieces they needed they got to try out our brand new Beaver Bots that gnawed away at their designs to cut them out for them. They were very popular!
