Connect Year 6

Literacy

We'll be finishing Wonder mid next week, and the book has just got better and better.  The written responses and the presentation of the students' books has been fantastic.  We are going to be lucky enough to view the film on Thursday of next week.  It's rated PG, so a notification has gone out asking if you have any objections to your child viewing the film to let us know.  It really is a valuable finish to the novel study that allows us to put faces to names and compare the similarities and differences to the book and the film.

Numeracy

It's been a big term in mathematics.  We have studied fractions, decimals and percentages, incorporating discounts and how to solve pretty complex problems in our heads.  We looked at angles and measurement in the applied side of the subject and next week we will be reviewing them all to make sure that it all has sunk in!

Well-Being

The students have been fantastic examining character traits and what ones they see in themselves and others around them and what ones they value the most.  They have been learning on ways to improve the ones that they are strong in, and those that aren't as apparet.

Make sure you enjoy the break and get your children to show how grateful they are for all that you do for them by asking them to empty the dishwasher and making their bed everyday!

Click on the links for ideas for the holidays.  My recommendation for a day in the city would be to get to the National Gallery of Victoria to see some of the best art in the world and the best part is that it is absolutely free!
