HSC Music News Congratulations to Ella Saxon who has been nominated for possible inclusion by NESA for ENCORE, which presents a selection of outstanding major works by HSC Music students in NSW including performance, composition and musicology. It will be held at the Sydney Opera House in March next year. Congratulations to Ella on her nomination!
Year 7 students have continued developing their performance skills on keyboard which has culminated in a performance assessment. Students demonstrated their enjoyment of gaining new skills through their engagement in all aspects of Music.
Year 8 students have developed guitar and keyboard skills based on Blues and Rock Music. Students have performed a variety of Rock riffs which are based on the Blues scale and participated in both whole class ensemble and individual performances. Students are to be commended on their engagement in all practical lessons throughout the term.
Year 9 students completed a Topic on Irish Music and have enjoyed learning about performing media, modes and structures used in Jigs. Their learning culminated in a composition based on creating an original Irish Jig using a notation program.
Year 10 have been developing their individual performance skills as well as learning about Dynamics and Expressive Techniques used in Jazz and Popular Music songs.
Year 12 Congratulations to the Year 12 Music class who completed their HSC Music Performance Exam last week and also for their showcase of performance pieces at the HSC Music Night for parents, staff and students. We wish them all the best for their written exams.
