Hello from our teachers and students
Respect, Responsibility and Kindness
It’s hard to believe we’re already in Week 7 of Term 3! The Grade 1/2 students have been busy learners – building their skills, exploring new ideas, and supporting one another as they grow. This week has been full of excitement, from creative story writing to getting our hands dirty in the garden, and even some impressive student-led moments during Investigations. Here’s a little snapshot of what we’ve been up to!
Literacy
Our budding authors have been hard at work practising their story-writing skills! It’s been wonderful to see how much progress everyone is making – from writing simple sentences to creating exciting stories with a beginning, middle, and end. The confidence and creativity in our classroom are truly shining! Below is a sample of students' writing so far.
Gardening
This week we rolled up our sleeves and got busy in the garden. The students helped to plant new raspberry plants, learning about how to prepare the soil and care for young plants. We can’t wait to watch them grow – and maybe even taste some berries later in the year! We also did some maintenance by getting rid of some pesky weeds.
Investigations
Our Investigations sessions continue to spark curiosity and creativity. This week, Vera took the lead to share a snippet of our learning with the class, showing just how much ownership students take during this time. These sessions are a great way for students to explore their interests, solve problems, and share their ideas with their peers.
We also were lucky enough to get a visit from Coliban Water - Where we discussed Wonderful Water.
We’ll need a bit of space for this one, as we roll out a river, build a reservoir and a water treatment plant, before running some water pipes to homes, businesses and schools. We’ll also read a beautiful story about a water drop, see how water changes states (but never disappears!), and even do a bit of acting (who can act out a melting ice cube?)
