Sexual Health Expo - Year 9
Last Friday, Year 9 students had the valuable opportunity to attend the first-ever Sexual Health Expo, proudly delivered by Sunraysia Community Health Services (SCHS).
The half-day event featured guest speaker Jack Muscat, School Nurse and facilitator with The Man Cave, who engaged students in meaningful discussions around consent, respectful relationships, and sexual health.
The expo also included a panel interview, where established professionals in the sexual health field answered a series of student-led questions—creating an open, informative, and safe space for learning.
A highlight of the day was a podcast-style Q&A session, hosted by Jack Muscat. Following the presentations, students were invited to explore the expo, which featured 12 interactive stalls hosted by a variety of local health organisations including Headspace, MDAS, HomeBase, and Catholic Care, among others. Each student received a "passport" and was encouraged to participate in the activities at each stall to earn a stamp. Those who completed their passports were entered into a prize draw. Congratulations to Isabella Norris, who took home the prize – an Intersport voucher!
The event was very well received, with students demonstrating maturity, curiosity, and a willingness to engage in honest conversations about important topics. All information and activities provided throughout the day were delivered in alignment with the school curriculum. Overall, the expo was a fantastic success, empowering students with knowledge, support, and confidence in navigating their health and relationships.
