School Hat Policy Reminder

As we move into Spring, it's time to implement the Department of Education's Sun Protection Policy requiring students to wear school hats during all outdoor activities. The Policy was sent to all Valkstone families via Compass earlier this week.

STUENTS MUST BRING & WEAR THEIR SCHOOL HATS

FOR OUTDOOR PLAY & ACTIVITIES

Implementation Guidelines:

Today's Action: Please remind your classes to bring their hats to school.
Enforcement: Students without hats will need to remain under the shelter in the OSHC (afterschool care) decking area during outdoor time.
Consistency: All staff must communicate and enforce this policy uniformly.

Key Message for Students:

No hat = Play under OSHC shelter only

This policy helps protect our students from UV exposure as the weather warms up. Please ensure you're familiar with our complete Sun Protection Policy (attached) and help students establish this important routine.

LUNCHTIME CUTLERY

As per Department of Education policy, we are not allowed to provide students with single use plastic cutlery. Non-plastic cutlery items "borrowed" from the staffroom have gone missing, costing us money to replace for staff use.

Please ensure that you provide your child with any cutlerly needed for their lunch and snack.

ONLINE LUNCH ORDERING

We have a number of children that are missing out on their lunch orders due to user error. Please make sure you select the correct date and move through each step to avoid your child missing out on their lunch order. You can check your receipt to confirm that you've completed the order correctly.

Lunch orders are available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Lunch orders are all on line. Orders must be placed by 8:30 a.m.

THE JAPANESE WORD OF THE FORTNIGHT

だいすきです (pronounced ‘daisukides’) which means ‘love something’ or ‘like something very much’ is the Japanese Word for Week 8 & 9 of Term 3. You can use ‘だいすきです’ (‘daisukides’) to say you love something/like something very much.

For example, if you want to say, ‘I love sushi’, you say ‘Sushi daisukides’ (すしだいすきです). Also, for a casual situation, you don’t need to use ‘des’ at the end.
