Message from the

Principal

Dear Families,

Welcome to Term 4

Term 4 is always a busy, yet exciting time of year!

Our students would probably agree that the most exciting event this term is our Colour Run on October 23rd. This is our major fundraiser for the year, and it will provide the funds for our brand-new Senior playground.

There will be ongoing prizes over the next few weeks for individuals and classes that raise the most money. So, please encourage your family, friends, relatives, and workmates to support our school and this fantastic initiative.

What's Happening This Term

Term 4 is packed with activities and opportunities for learning, including:

  • Day and overnight camps for Years 3, 4 and 5
  • Excursions for several year levels
  • Swimming for all students from Foundation to Year 6
  • Orientation Day
  • Year 6 Graduation
  • Whole-school Christmas Carols
  • And of course, lots of classroom learning!

We encourage you to ask your children about the novel they’re reading or what they’re learning in Maths. (You’ll find more information in the attached class newsletters.) Enjoy the term ahead!

Class Considerations for 2026

During Term 4, our teachers will begin the important task of placing students into their classes for 2026.

At St Therese’s, we believe:

  • Education involves the development of the whole person — spiritually, academically, physically, socially, and emotionally.
  • A relevant, balanced and challenging education provides a strong foundation for inspiration and long-term success.
  • Learning together means being inclusive — welcoming and respectful of all.
  • The creation of class groups should be balanced, fair and equitable.

Our Class Placement Process:

  1. Current teachers create an initial draft for student placement.
  2. The leadership team reviews class allocations, ensuring equity across students’ social, emotional, physical and academic needs.
  3. Teachers then review any changes made.
  4. Final class lists are shared with families on Orientation Day.

Please note: These lists are final unless there is evidence of an oversight.

If you believe there are circumstances we should be aware of when placing your child, please email principal@stkennington.catholic.edu.au by 4:00 pm on Friday, 17th October.

Also, if your child will not be returning to St Therese’s in 2026, please inform the office as soon as possible.

School Engagement Survey

Thank you to all the randomly selected families who completed our School Engagement Survey. As promised, everyone who emailed proof of completion was entered into a draw for a $50 voucher.

🎉 Congratulations to Eamon Smith, our lucky winner!

We truly appreciate your feedback. The information gathered is incredibly valuable in shaping the future direction of our school improvement efforts.

School Hours (Repeat)

Please note the schoolyard is unsupervised before 8:30 am. There are still many, many children on the grounds prior to this time.

For the safety of your children, I am asking that they are not dropped off at school before 8:30 am.
