VM Market Day

On Monday, 1st September, Year 12 VCE Vocational Major (VM) students at Kurunjang Secondary College hosted their highly anticipated VM Market Day, an initiative designed to raise awareness of community issues through student-led engagement.

As part of their Unit 4 community project, students researched an issue impacting the local or broader community. They then designed and produced an item, ranging from food products to creative non-food items to distribute to younger students at the College. This hands-on approach not only encouraged participation from the wider student body but also provided the VCE-VM cohort with a meaningful platform to advocate for their chosen causes.

Students employed a variety of strategies to communicate their messages, including brochures, posters, presentations at school assemblies, and even advocating for their cause speaking directly to staff. The diversity of approaches showcased the creativity and initiative of the cohort, with each student tailoring their campaign to best suit their audience and message.

The day concluded with a sense of pride and accomplishment, as both students and staff reflected on the energy, effort, and impact of the event. The dedication shown by the Year 12 VCE-VM students was evident, with many staff expressing admiration for what was achieved in a single day.

Having spent the entire term planning and preparing, students will now turn their focus to evaluating the success of their campaigns, an important step in developing critical reflection and continuous improvement skills.

Kurunjang Secondary College is incredibly proud of the VCE-VM students for their commitment to community awareness and for demonstrating the power of student voice in action.
