Mathematics Books Coming Home For Sharing & Celebration!

Get ready to celebrate your child's learning journey in Mathematics! Next Friday (Week 9), your child will bring home their Mathematics book, filled with fantastic work and progress. This is a wonderful opportunity for them to share their learning with you and for you to provide encouragement and celebrate their achievements.

Inside their book, you'll find a Parent Reflection and Celebration Slip. We invite you to take a moment to leave a comment, share your thoughts, and acknowledge your child's efforts. We look forward to continuing our partnership and working together to help your child thrive and grow in their faith, learning, and well-being.

Please ensure all Mathematics books are returned to school on Monday of Week 10

HSC - Physical Activity & Sport Studies Teaching Visits (PASS)

For many years, we have been fortunate to have students from Holy Spirit College (HSC) completing the Year 10 Physical Activity & Sport Studies (PASS) coaching program with our school. These visits provide our students with micro-teaching PDHPE skills based lessons.

Primary Years 3-6 will participate in the sessions alongside class teachers, HSC PE teachers and students, on days that coincide with their current Term 3 Sport uniform days.  Introducing Our New Student Representative Council!

Earlier this term we formed St Joseph’s first Student Representative Council. This initiative marks an exciting new chapter for St Joseph’s, as we empower our students to be active participants in shaping our vibrant school community.

The establishment of our SRC is deeply rooted in our Catholic values. Just as Jesus taught us the importance of listening, serving others, and fostering a loving community, our SRC will provide a powerful platform for our students to embody these principles.

Our SRC (Year 6 school captains) are ready to represent their peers with enthusiasm and dedication. They will be the voice of our students, bringing forward ideas and suggestions from each classroom, ensuring that every student feels heard and valued.

We encourage all students to share their thoughts and ideas using classroom suggestion boxes, knowing that their input is important and will contribute to making St Joseph’s an even better place.

We look forward to seeing the wonderful contributions and positive changes our SRC will bring throughout Semester 2.

SRC News

Class suggestion boxes were introduced earlier this term. Last week our Student Representative Council collected suggestions and met to discuss the validity of these. It was wonderful to see so many great suggestions. Some of these included a library book wish list, additional canteen menu items, playground equipment suggestions and a lunchtime ‘Clean Up’ club.

One suggestion was the inclusion of canteen vouchers in our PB4L prize box. In response to student voice, canteen vouchers will now be included in the PB4L prize box. Alternate prizes continue to be available should you not wish your child to purchase from the canteen.

Fidget Toys at School

We have noticed an increase in students bringing fidget toys to school, including putty. While fidget tools can sometimes be useful when recommended for specific learning or wellbeing needs, they can also become a distraction in the classroom and playground.

At school, our focus is on creating a calm and engaging learning environment where all students can do their best. For this reason, we ask that fidget toys, including putty, stay at home unless they have been specifically recommended and approved by the class teacher.

We appreciate your support in helping us minimise distractions and keep learning time focused for everyone.
