Grade 3 & 4

Literacy
Poetry
We have looked at how to construct Rhyming Poems and Haikus also. The students got to showcase their creativeness and writing skills, enjoying the opportunity to share them with their classmates.
Life Cycle Narratives
Students used their research skills and knowledge of Lifecycles to write a Narrative from an animal of their choice's perspective.
Students thoughts on the Life Cycle Tasks.
Arden H- "I liked how we got to choose our own animal to research and put it into a story. It was good to learn about how Penguins develop."
Mila F- I didn't know that the Capybara had a juvenile stage. I liked how we got to publish our writing on the laptop.
Grayson H- "It was good to have some choice in what we wrote. My animal had more stages to its life cycle than I expected.
Maths
Mr Price Tiles
Zeek – It was fun and we were learning. I made my tile pattern with a triangle and then two triangles together in one square, in a square, and it was like that pattern.
Ava – I made a toothbrush pattern and a fruit pattern and it was fun.
Airport Adventures
Harvey – We went on Epsom Air and we got to have an aeroplane experience with snacks. Then over the next couple of days we did maths questions about airports. The best bit was how we got feel like we were on a real aeroplane.
Austin – It was fun at we got to go on an airplane and get snacks.
Ruby – I liked how it felt like we were on a real airplane and got real food. It was hard to count all the students on the plane but it was also interesting and fun. The next 2 days we had to go with a partner and figure out airport maths questions.
Abby -We went on an aeroplane and then we had to do aeroplane maths. The best bit was getting first class seats.
Science - 'Feathers, Fur and Leaves' Unit
This term we have explored livings things near and far...from our bush block, to native animals through to our very own fictional 'Bitza' animals in our final project for this year. This involved the students researching ideas for their made up animals like its habitat, diet and unique features. They then created a Google Site to display their learning.
Last Term's Projects...
We didn't get a chance to share the marvellous 'Making Change' projects in the last Gazette...so here are some of the fabulous ideas students proposed...
Various moments through the term...
Watching the author of 'Runt' Craig Silvey on a live stream event.
Footy Colours Day
Other moments through the term...
PJ Day
Hudson- Lots of people were wanting and waiting for PJ Day, so Student Council did it. Overall. it was great.
Maria – Everyone had very cozy stuff on. I wore unicorn Pyjamas.
Zeek – It was a nice surprise to see what other people have for pyjamas.
Excursion
We travelled down to explore the Melbourne Museum and IMAX on Tuesday 11th November, as part of exploring our "Feathers, Fur and Leaves' Learning Unit.
We learned about various animals (even prehistoric ones!) via the different biome exhibits.
Then we headed into IMAX to see Bugs 3D which ties in perfectly with our major project within the unit. It was a great day which the everyone enjoyed.
Production
As always...what an utterly amazing feat Mr Mayes has pulled off, with the amazing support of Ms Fitz! So much hard work, planning, blood, sweat, fun, dance moves and joy!!! We couldn't be prouder of our SUPERSTAR students!!! We know this will be a lifelong memory for them all.
