Virtual Cyber Incursions

Last week, our Foundation - Year 4 students participated in virtual cyber incursions hosted by Inform and Empower.
The Year 1/2 session covered:
- Our bodies give us early warning signs if something is making us feel uncomfortable. SONG - Listen to you Body
- We often see ads when we’re playing online games. Ads are there to try and sell us something. Digital Detectives are good at spotting ads and recognising what they are trying to do.
- We can always talk to a trusted adult if we notice our early warning signs.
The Year 3/4 session covered:
- Personal and private information
- Online scams
- Unsafe interactions at home
Some conversations starters you might like to use with your children are:
- What information should you keep private online? Why is this important?
- Discuss and share examples of 'scams' you've both come across online.
- Check your child's profile together on their favourite game/app - are there changes you could implement to make their experience safer? Is there any information that should be made private?
