Celebrating 70 years at Killester College and the   Commissioning of their new Principal

In recognition of Killester College’s 70th year, a Eucharistic celebration was held to honour seven decades of unwavering commitment to Catholic education. Rooted in the Brigidine tradition, the ceremony reflected the College’s enduring mission to nurture the minds and hearts of young women. It was a moment of reflection and gratitude,

acknowledging a legacy shaped by compassion, courage, and a deep sense of purpose.

Special recognition was extended to the Trustees and Board members of Kildare Ministries, whose leadership and service have played a vital role in shaping the College’s journey. We also expressed our sincere thanks to the members of the wider College community, whose ongoing support and dedication continue to ensure a vibrant and sustainable future for Killester.

We were privileged to welcome the Brigidine Sisters to this significant celebration. Their courageous decision to establish a school in Springvale stands as a testament to their bold vision and unwavering commitment to providing quality education grounded in Gospel values. Their founding spirit remains a source of inspiration and guidance for our community.

Following the Eucharist, the Commissioning Ceremony for Killester College's new Principal, Annie Rosati, was held. This occasion was both humbling and deeply meaningful, marked by symbolic gestures and affirming words that reflected the community’s trust and shared commitment to Killester’s mission. The ceremony served as a powerful expression of welcome, hospitality and hope, celebrating leadership grounded in faith and service.

Brigidine Day

Brigidine Day was a wonderful community event that brought our college together in celebration of our 70th Birthday as a Brigidine school. Embedded in our core values of hospitality and service, the day focused on living out the spirit of Brigid and Nano - to serve those in need.

The day began with our special Brigidine Day Prayer and blessing, reminding us of our values and the importance of living these out in our daily lives. Students and staff then engaged in a lively Kahoot competition between homerooms, exploring the rich history of Killester College and celebrating 70 years of our school’s legacy. A highlight to complete the morning proceedings was the Year Level Fashion Parade, showcasing costumes through time, which was both fun and reflective of our journey and growth.

Through a collaborative effort, students and staff united to organize a variety of engaging activities that not only fostered a strong sense of belonging but also raised vital funds for the Brigidine Asylum Seeker Project (BASP). Activities such as the Silent Disco, our OP Shop—Brigid’s Blessings, food stalls, and the dunking machine, where teachers volunteered to be dunked for charity, exemplified our spirit of generosity and service. Year levels also organized carnival games including face painting, a circus ring, luck dip, and coin toss, encouraging teamwork and fun for a cause.

The day culminated in a community gathering in the hall to celebrate the talents and courage of our ‘Killester’s Got Talent’ participants, featuring singing, dancing, and a lively performance by a visiting K-Pop group, with judges making their decisions.

Brigidine Day exemplifies the power of community coming together for a common purpose—living out our values of hospitality, kindness, and justice. It reminds us that through service and collaboration, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others and strengthen the bonds that unite us as a school community.
