Dear Parents and Friends,

Welcome to Term 4.

Our staff and students have had a very productive start to the term including a wonderful Colour Run on Friday. Thank you to our P&F who organised the event and to our parent helpers on the day.

A reminder that regular attendance remains critical to students' learning and social relationships. Please ensure absences are explained within 7 days, preferably via the Compass parent portal.

Thank you to all parents for partnering with us to ensure students returned to Term 4 in the correct Summer Uniform. Your support in upholding our School Uniform Requirements is invaluable, as it sets a consistent standard of high expectations across the entire school community. We ask that throughout the term, these requirements continue to be upheld, particularly in relation to haircuts, jewellery and shoes which can become inconsistent at times.

Grandparents and Great People Day

Tomorrow, we celebrate our annual Grandparents and Great People Day, a much loved community event. It is always a huge success and our largest gathering, reflecting the important role they play in the life of our students.

As we continue to explore the Jubilee theme, Pilgrims of Hope, we can look to our grandparents and older members of our community as living examples of this. So many of them have stories, wisdom and experience that reveal a deep trust and faith in God’s presence and compassion.

They have inevitably met both challenges and joys throughout their lives, and by listening to their experiences, we can see God’s footprints, even when it may not be named in this way. These memories of God’s presence are signs of hope for us all.

11.30am - Liturgy Under the Shade Shelter (whilst some chairs will be available, we recommend bring your own)

12.15pm - Open Classrooms

1.00pm - 1.30pm Bring a Picnic Lunch to share with your grandchildren

At 1.30pm, our Picnic Lunch will conclude. At this time, students with permission to leave with their grandparents may do so. Permission must be in writing to the school via email by 9.30am on the day. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation with this. Please contact the school if you have any concerns.

As this is the largest gathering of visitors we have for the year, we are mindful of ensuring safe and accessible access into and out of the school. Please note the following and I ask that parents pass this information on to our visitors:

Gates

Gates into the school will open at 11.15am

  • Hutton Avenue, Park Road and Rowen Street

Please note, Hutton Ave and Rowen Street gates will close at 11.35am to ensure safety throughout the event.

Parking

  • The Basketball Court will open at 11.15am for visitors who would usually use a Mobility Parking Scheme Permit or who need to park as close as possible due to poor mobility.

  • We ask that visitors park correctly in the surrounding streets.

The Lift to access the playground area is available via the school office.

The Scholastic Book Fair will operate in the school hall during the open classrooms and during lunchtime. Additionally, the Book Fair will be open to students on Monday 27 October and Tuesday 28 October.

How does my child receive a Principal's Award?

Class teachers nominate students for Blue Merit Awards which are presented at the weekly assembly.  When five Blue Merit Awards have been received, students send them to the school office to be recorded and are then eligible for a Principal’s Award. When students attain their 4th Principal Award, they are awarded a Principal’s Medallion at an assembly. End of Term awards can be included as part of the 5 awards.  Please see the "School Handbook" for a full list of eligible awards.
