From 10 December 2025, many social media platforms won’t be allowed to let anyone under the age of 16 create or keep an account.

Linked below is a page from the eSafety Commissioner that gives information as to why this is happening as well answers to frequently asked questions and links to helpful resources that you can explore.

LS2 Juniors – Book Club

Our Year 1 and 2 students have been working wonderfully in their Book Club groups this term. They have been developing their discussion skills by learning to actively listen to others, share their own ideas, and take turns during group conversations. It’s been fantastic to see their confidence grow as they engage thoughtfully with each other and the stories they are reading.

LS2 Seniors Visit the Melbourne Museum: Pilgrims of Hope in Action

This week, our LS2 senior students embarked on a thought-provoking excursion to the Melbourne Museum — a day that connected powerfully to our Jubilee Year theme: “Pilgrims of Hope.”

As we explored the museum’s exhibits, students encountered the work and message of Dr Jane Goodall, whose lifelong dedication to animals, conservation, and education inspires a vision of hope grounded in respect for the dignity of all living things. Her message reminded us that being a pilgrim of hope means looking after not just people, but also animals, ecosystems, and the planet we share.

The day ran smoothly thanks to our wonderful parent volunteers, whose presence and support helped make the experience so rich and meaningful. From interactive displays to quiet moments of reflection, our students returned inspired — ready to carry forward the message of caring, courage, and responsibility in their own lives.

ITALIAN

Buonagiornata a tutti!

The juniors have been making four finger puppets from the Ecco Pinocchio story that we will read in the coming lesson. The characters are il grillo (the cricket), il topo (the mouse), il gatto (the cat) and of course, Pinocchio!

A little rhyme goes with the puppets:

Ecco il grillo, cri cri cri

Ecco il topo, squit squit squit

Ecco il gatto, miao miao miao

Ecco Pinocchio, ciao ciao ciao!

The children have been very excited making and role playing with their puppets.  Enjoy this primavera season.

Visual Art News: Update on the HOLT Annual Christmas Card Competition

Gallery Image

Thank you to the students and their parents for their interest, enthusiasm and effort with  entering the Holt Annual Christmas Card Competition.

It was a pleasure to discuss, work with and hear the effort the students made to share the spirit of Christmas artistically through their original Christmas cards this year. MP Cassandra Fernando’s staff were appreciative of the entries hand delivered and electronically sent to them from our school.

We will announce the winner of this competition as soon as we are notified. Until then, keep on making the spark in your art grow!

WHOLE SCHOOL PROGRAMS

SFS AFTER SCHOOL WOOLWORTHIS CRICKET BLAST PROGRAM

Once again, the students had a great time on Wednesday at the Cricket Blast Clinic.

This program is run by Cricket Victoria and sponsored by Woolworths.

The clinics will not be on next Wednesday due to the Production. They will continue in Week 5 and 6. The dates of the remaining clinics are:

Week 4: NO Cricket Clinics - Production

Week 5: Wednesday November 5th

Week 6 Wednesday November12th

Cricket Australia has allowed us a few more spots. We now have 75 places available to SFS students but registration i=will close today.

Parents are most welcome to attend but will need to be at school to pick up their child by 4.15pm unless your child is going to After School Care. We can organise students to be dropped off there after the clinics. When leaving the cricket program, please walk around the school on the courts area and ensure you use the pedestrian gate at the front of the school near the rainbow playground.

TERM 4 SWIMMING

Swimming continues!! Thanks to all the parents who ensure that their child is prepared for their swimming lesson each week. It makes the office ladies job much easier. Thank you also to parents who assist in the Junior changerooms. Please remember that only the parents I have organised will be allowed to enter and assist in the changerooms.

Swimming timetables have been uploaded onto the Operoo permission form as an attachment. Please print it off and ensure you have it available at home. For next week’s swimming there is a change for LS2 and 3 Juniors due to production practise. LS@ will be on Monday and LS3 on Tuesday. Please see swimming details below:

Monday – LS1 Seniors, LS1 Juniors, LS2 Juniors

Tuesday – LS3 Seniors, LS2 Seniors, LS3 Juniors

Students will need to wear their bathers under their sports uniform and bring a bag with their towel, undergarments and thongs. Students will put their thongs on before leaving for swimming to make changing easier. They will then put their shoes back on once they return to school.

Please ensure your child is prepared for their swimming lesson so our office staff do not need to use their valuable time ringing parents and asking them to bring swimming gear.

Parents please note you are welcome to attend Casey Leisure to view your child’s lesson but photographs and videos are not allowed and only parents who have been contacted by me, are able to assist in the junior change rooms.

A reminder to parents that swimming is an important part of the PE curriculum and all students are expected to attend. It’s imperative that students know how to keep themselves safe around water. If there is a medical reason your child cannot attend a session, they will then remain at school in another Learning Space.

Any queries please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Eco Action Team Produce Stall

Last week, our Eco Action Team hosted a vibrant produce stall showcasing all the fruits (and veggies!) of our school’s hard work in the garden. We were amazed by the incredible amount of fresh produce we were able to harvest!

Students proudly picked and sold lettuce, spinach, cabbage, broccoli, snow peas, silverbeet, spring onions, cauliflower, coriander, and beetroot — and of course, the ever-popular eggs from our school chickens.

The experience was a fantastic learning opportunity for our students. They discovered how to tell when produce is ready to pick, how to harvest it carefully, how to interact with customers, and even practised their maths skills when handling money and giving change.

Here’s what some of our Eco Action Team members had to say about the day:

“We worked really hard to grow these fruit and vegetables.” - Jasper

“It was a great learning activity for us and my favourite part was selling!” - Patrick

“It was hard work growing and selling the fruit and veg, but it was worth it!” - John

A huge thank you to all the families who stopped by and supported our stall. Your encouragement helps our students see the real value of sustainable living and community connection. Keep an eye out for our next stall once our gardens have had time to grow again!
