VCE/VM

We would like to take this opportunity to Congratulate the Year 12 VCE VM Class of 2025 on their outstanding achievements this year.

It has been amazing to witness each student’s individual growth and development, as well as the way the group has come together as a supportive and united team. Throughout the year, they have demonstrated resilience, maturity, and a genuine care for one another, embracing challenges, celebrating successes, and consistently showing what it means to work collaboratively towards shared goals.

Please enjoy our memorial poem on the two years of VCE VM completed by these students below.

A Journey of Growth: Our VM Farewell

Good afternoon, everyone! Or should we say, "goodbye for now?" It feels like only yesterday we all started somehow. It was two years ago, a brand new Year Eleven start, with faces we barely knew, each holding a different heart. We were a loose little group, and the feeling was plain to see, a quiet, tense classroom, not a whole lot of cohesivity.

We started as one teacher, then team-taught as two, and after a year, we welcomed a few more faces brand new. This small band of teachers, guiding you through every day, we watched as you grew and found your own wonderful way.

You came into the room, unsure where to sit or belong, a little bit segregated, the silence felt awfully strong. But bit by bit, we started to chat and to share, and we built up the rapport that was truly always there. We had Literacy with Jayne and Amanda, and Work Related Skills too, and we quickly learned that this group could achieve what they set out to do.

And what a start we had! I remember that sizzling day, the swimming sports BBQ, that truly blew us all away! A burning hit, literally, as the flames shot up so high, Amanda, you were that close to cooking the food in the sky! We laughed so hard, and from that moment, the tension all went slack, for Numeracy and PDS, Shona and Melissa knew we were on the right track!

We did so much more than just listen, and read, and count, and write, we built shelves together and took trips that lasted all day and all night. We got a bit lost in the Museum, and that’s just a part of the tale, and then on the long ride home, we all fell asleep without fail. We’ve been to ten pin bowling, and scaled walls rock climbing high, and we learned a lot from the people at The Big Issue, as the weeks flew by.

We turned into master chefs, or at least, a kitchen team, with constant cooking, it felt like a wonderful, flour-covered dream! The hot dogs and sausages were great, but the major, amazing seller? Those magnificent pizzas you made, they were truly stellar! We planned and then planted a garden, even in the blistering heat, Some in sensible boots, others in Crocs on their feet!

We watched you all grow into the adults you were meant to be, from a quiet group to a room full of great personality. Quiet Angela now is loud, and her confidence shines out bright, working at Macca's, managed by Ebony, both doing what is right! Seth, our soft-spoken one, who wants to smile at the check-out line, a friendly supermarket cashier, whose future looks totally fine.

Our future leaders are already taking the world by storm, like Bryce who is now well into his mechanical form. Tom has reached his goal and is on his path to a chef’s career, and Ethan is off to the farm, after his last kid holiday this year! We lost Jarrah along the way, but now we cheer for Ollie’s spark, he’s on his way to be an electrician, leaving his own shining mark.

The tech wizards of the group are ready to succeed, there’s Jackson, sticking close to home to work at the grain store indeed, while he finishes his course in cyber safety, and takes a short break. And quick-tab-changing Micah, with cyber-security at stake, we all know how fast he can move, a master of the screen, always working hard, even if he sometimes can’t be seen.

Olivia is all set with her Community Services Cert, with such empathy and compassion, she won't let anyone get hurt. She’s off to the Yea Hospital, an amazing, caring place, just like Ashlee, who left us early and set a fantastic pace.

And let's not forget Travis, with his many talents we have come to see, such as a strong determination and a capacity to let things be.

Natalie is pondering her choices, from beauty to aged care, and Michael, with his great humour, is on the job search out there! We have watched you all grow, develop, argue, and debate, finding your voice and your own unique pace before it gets too late. You’ve all found your place in the room, and now your places in life will appear, You are all so incredibly capable, and we hold your futures dear.

From all of us, your teachers at St Mary's College— Jayne, Amanda, Shona, and Melissa—we share this knowledge: You are wonderful, prepared, and ready to go!

So go out there, VM Class of 2025, and put on a spectacular show! We wish you all the very best!
