Prep News

Our Prep students have had a fantastic start to Term 4! They have come back to school happy, settled, and ready for a term full of learning, fun, and new experiences. We have spent time revising our school values and routines, exploring our new spaces, and getting back into the rhythm of our calm and predictable school days. It’s been wonderful to see how confident and independent our Preps have become!

This week, we have been having lots of fun exploring the concept of length. The children have been busy measuring, comparing, and creating! From drawing, using chalk and making colourful worms of different lengths to building long and short trains, we’ve been developing our understanding of measurement in hands-on and engaging ways. The classroom has been full of curiosity and discovery as we compared the lengths of different objects around our learning spaces.

Our Preps have jumped straight back into their phonics routines and have been learning new digraphs. It’s been so exciting to see their growing confidence as they read and write more independently each day. In English, we’ve been diving into stories about some of our favourite Australian animals. Books like Wombat StewKoala Lou and Diary of a Wombat have sparked many giggles and great discussions! We’ve also been learning about the difference between fragments and sentences and retelling stories.

In Wellbeing, we’ve been exploring our character strengths and discovering what makes each of us special. The children have been identifying their own “superpowers” – the unique qualities that make them wonderful friends and learners. It’s been heart-warming to see their pride in recognising what makes them shine.

We are incredibly proud of how far our Preps have come this year. Their enthusiasm, growth, and positive attitude continue to impress us every day. We’re looking forward to an exciting Term 4 filled with more learning, growing, and special events together!
