Dear Parents / Carers

Feast of the Assumption

The Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is celebrated every year on August 15. The Catholic Church teaches that God assumed Mary, body and soul, into heavenly glory. Mary, as the mother of Jesus, is central in the life of the Church. This Solemnity of Mary is a special chance to honour Mary and acknowledge that she was the mother of the Son of God. She played a vital role in his earthly ministry. Mary is often thought of as the mother of the Church, and she has an ongoing presence and guidance in the life of the Church today.

Prayer / Praying

Apostleship of Prayer

Each month the Pope entrusts a prayer intention to his Worldwide Prayer Network, the Apostleship of Prayer. These intentions, which express the Pope’s concern for humanity and the mission of the Church, are made available along with a morning and evening prayer. Let’s join many others around the world and pray with the Pope.

Pope’s Intention August 2024

We pray that political leaders be at the service of their own people, working for integral human development and for the common good, especially caring for the poor and those who have lost their jobs.

Morning Prayer

Heavenly Father, as I begin this day, I look to you for guidance. I offer you the joys and sorrows, laughter and tears of this day, and unite myself to the intentions of Pope Francis for this month, that political leaders be at the service of their own people, working for integral human development and the common good, taking caring of those who have lost their jobs and giving priority to the poor. Amen

Evening Prayer

As this day ends, O Lord, I pray for all I met this day, especially …………….. who need your help and care. Give peace to our world and guidance to those who govern us. I thank you for the goodness I met this day. Amen
