Year 7 Gorge Wildlife Park Excursion
On Wednesday, July 3, and Thursday, July 4, the Year 7 students ventured to Gorge Wildlife Park, complementing their ongoing studies on Classification within the Science subject.
The day's highlight was the hands-on interaction with Australia's iconic wildlife. From petting koalas to feeding kangaroos, the students immersed themselves in observing and learning these fascinating creatures. Guided by knowledgeable Park staff, they learned about various snakes and other native and exotic animals.
This experience brought their classroom lessons to life and students' appreciation for Australian wildlife. It was a day filled with curiosity and plenty of fun.
Thank you to all the Year 7 teachers and staff who attended. We thank Gorge Wildlife Park for hosting such an enriching excursion.

Senior School Snow Trip to Mount Buller
A group of Senior students travelled to Mount Buller in Victoria's Alpine region for our annual combined snow trip with King’s Baptist Grammar School.
Upon arrival, after a safety briefing, students attended their first official lessons in skiing or snowboarding. They had daily sessions with an instructor, learning various skills and tricks in their chosen discipline.
Hot chocolates, coffees, and teas were consumed in large quantities throughout the trip as the conditions were cool with frequent snowfall. It was fascinating to see the mountain when the clouds cleared, revealing blue skies and making for enjoyable skiing weather.
We carved through the snow each day and even participated in night skiing, where a DJ played upbeat music to enhance the atmosphere. Red Bull merchandise was handed out, and many snowballs were successfully thrown at both moving and stationary targets.
To recover from hours of skiing and snowboarding in temperatures between -12 and Zero degrees, students enjoyed fun together playing cards and board games in our private lodge. It was a wonderful time together as students and staff developed and strengthened relationships.
All attending students and staff left the mountain with fond memories, photos, footage, and some sore spots. Mount Buller provided another great experience for us this year, and we look forward to returning in the 2025 Term 2 School Holidays.

Year 12 Camp Highlights
At Emmaus, we firmly believe in proclaiming that Jesus Christ is Lord and providing our students with opportunities to belong, flourish, think, and respond.
For our Year 12 students, much of this year has been dedicated to developing their thinking through their coursework.
The Year 12 camp, held during the final three days of Term 2, was a special time for belonging, flourishing, and responding to God's call in their lives. We are truly grateful for the opportunities this camp provided.
The Year 12 Camp took place at the picturesque Adare Campsite in Victor Harbor. It was cold, but not wet, for which all were very grateful. Year 12 is a significant year, full of learning, growth, and assessments, and this camp offered a much-needed chance to recharge for the final stretch of the academic year.
While we will share photos in the next newsletter, we wanted to take this opportunity to highlight a particularly special moment from the camp.
On the second evening, following an evening walk along the beach, our Year 12 students returned to camp and gathered around the campfire for a worship session. After three songs, you might expect a group of teenagers to be ready to move on, but instead, they requested more songs!
The students continued to praise our mighty God, proclaiming for all the local neighbours to hear that Jesus Christ is Lord! This beautiful time of worship continued later into the evening, with students returning to the campfire to worship and pray for one another until lights-out.
It was incredible to witness our students responding to God’s call in their lives. We look forward to seeing them carry this beautiful sense of community through the rest of their year with us. As they prepare to step out from the Emmaus community, we continue to pray that they will always respond to God’s call in their lives.
