The South Plympton Junior School Musical performance of Seussical was an outstanding extravaganza of songs, costumes and colour.
Our students transported us into a world of music, drama, and storytelling. The stage came alive as our talented cast, supported by each year level, brought their hard work and dedication to fruition, delivering a performance that captivated us all.
Under the guidance of our passionate and skilful Mrs Meinel the cast embarked on a journey through song and dialogue. The musical numbers were a highlight of the evening, showcasing not only the vocal abilities of our main cast singers, but also the skill of all the classes.
Behind the scenes, Mrs Butler and her helpers worked tirelessly to ensure that every detail of the costumes and set enhanced the overall experience. Their dedication and creativity were integral to the success of the performance.
This musical production blessed our community by showcasing the many God-given talents of our students (and staff) and celebrating teamwork and resilience. It allowed our students to explore their creativity and grow as performers, fostering a sense of accomplishment within our school community. We are immensely proud of our students!
We extend our appreciation to all who contributed to the success of this event – the cast, directors, staff and parents. Your commitment and passion have enriched our school community and left an impact on everyone who had the privilege of attending.
Many of you would have seen the photos posted on social media at the end of the term, but we have also included a few for you to enjoy in this newsletter.

Term 3 is always a great term as a teacher. Routines are well established, and the students are well-placed to maximise their learning opportunities. They have all matured and ‘grown into’ their respective year levels. Term 3 allows the students to review and reinforce foundational skills learned earlier in the year. It provides many opportunities to build students' confidence in their abilities and provide opportunities for them to take risks with their learning.
Book Week 2024: 'Reading is Magic' - Monday 19 to Friday 23 August (Week 4)
Book Week is always a highlight of Term 3. The Book Week parade will be on Friday 23 Augustand we encourage the students to dress as their favourite book character on this day. You may want to begin to discuss what they will wear, as leaving this to the last minute can be quite stressful. When planning this costume, please keep in mind the logistics of a school day.
More details will be sent out closer to the date as we will invite parents to watch the parade. As well as the parade during the week there will be many activities relating to books for the students and a visit from Andrew McDonough, an author and illustrator of Children’s Christian books. (You may be familiar with ‘Cecil the Lost Sheep’)
Fathers’ Day Breakfast - Friday 30 August. (Week 5)
Please put the date in your diary and block out some time off work in the morning. Details will come out closer to the date.
Student Led Conferences - Tuesday 10 or Wednesday 11 September (Week 8)
Year 5 Camp - Monday 23 to Wednesday 25 September (Week 10)
I pray for good health for you and your families as we settle into Term 3.
