Whole School Mass
We will be having a whole school Mass tomorrow (Friday 19th July) for the Start of Term Three. This will be in the Church at 9.00am. Everybody is most welcome.
Sunday Gospel
The liturgy of the Catholic Church provides a framework for reflection which is used by Catholics throughout the world. Each week in the Newsletter, you will find the Sunday Gospel as well as some discussion questions to have with your child/ren.
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark
The apostles rejoined Jesus and told him all they had done and taught. Then he said to them, ‘You must come away to some lonely place all by yourselves and rest for a while’; for there were so many coming and going that the apostles had no time even to eat. So they went off in a boat to a lonely place where they could be by themselves. But people saw them going, and many could guess where; and from every town they all hurried to the place on foot and reached it before them. So as he stepped ashore he saw a large crowd; and he took pity on them because they were like sheep without a shepherd, and he set himself to teach them at some length.
Discussion Questions
1. Who are the people who care for you?
2. How do they show they care for you?
3. How do you show you care for all people, not just your friends?
4. In today’s Gospel Jesus changes his plans because he felt sorry for the people who wanted to see him. How can we put other people before our own needs?
We pray that Jesus, the Good Shepherd, will guide us so that we can show care for others.
R.E.Learning in PHW
We have been sharing our thoughts and ideas about this terms Gospel value, COURAGE.
We read about what the Bible has to say about Courage and we reflected on what we thought the message might be.
Psalm 31:24 ~ Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord!
We are learning that we can show courage in many ways. Below are some of our responses.
I show courage when I;
Have a voice and say no when I know something is not right.
Try new things - like swimming in the deep end.
Follow Jesus.
Admit to being wrong and make mistakes.
Let go and forgive.
Say sorry.
Face my fears.
Do something on my own.
Speak the truth.
Stand up for others,
Love myself.
During our weekly class prayer time we will be praying the following prayer. You may wish to pray it at home throughout the term.
Dear Lord,
Give my children a heart of courage. When they are afraid make Yourself known to them and remind them that you will never leave them nor forsake them. Help them be strong and courageous to do the good work You would have them do.
Amen
