School Council Update
In the most recent School Council meeting held on Monday, 29 July, it was great to have Miss McBurnie from 1C along to observe and participate, and the Council were all commenting on how nice it was to walk past the newly installed front fence! Painting is set to be completed by the end of the year, along with plaques for those families who contributed to the fence by purchasing a picket. More pickets will be available for purchase and the School will share news on this soon.
The Council unanimously expressed how proud everyone is of the School’s NAPLAN results, which were shared via Compass earlier this week.
Mr. Portaro opened the Principal’s Report acknowledging the Boonwurrung peoples as the traditional owners of the land that EPS proudly sits on, highlighting the importance of continuing to work towards equality for our First Nations people as a community.
There has been great support for the Butterfly Body Bright sessions happening across the School. Feedback from both parents and staff indicated that there have been positive impacts in attitudes and conversations between students. Thank you to Nicola Smith and Miss Solley for the efforts that have been made to implement this valuable initiative.
We are thrilled to welcome ten new students to EPS this term! Strong enrolments for Prep in 2025 have been received, and placements will start to be offered this week.
You may have noticed some work happening to upgrade the staffroom, admin back entrance, deck, and Brickwood Hall ramps. This is a statewide school project that has begun and is estimated to be completed by the end of term 3.
The oval is currently out of action due to the considerable rain we’ve had lately. The School is working to get the kids back on the oval as soon as possible and has implemented a play roster sharing the alternative play spaces between year levels, which is working well in the meantime.
Keep an eye out for the upcoming information on celebrating our fathers and carers at the gratitude stall and coffee morning this term!
