Bayside City Council - Garage Sale Trail

Australia’s festival of pre-loved stuff, Garage Sale Trail, returns to Bayside over two big weekends, 9 to 10 and 16 to17 November. It’s a great way to raise money, bring your school community together and educate students about the circular economy.

Last year, participating schools made an average of $940 each and helped divert 4.8 million kilograms of reusable clothes, household items, children’s toys and more going to landfill.Getting involved can be as simple as:-Encouraging and promoting home or school community sales-Adding a few second-hand stalls to already-planned events, like school fairs or fetes-Going all out and organising a suitcase rummage, swap or market for your community.

It’s free to register and Garage Sale Trail provides schools with a variety of tips, tools and free promotional materials to support your event.Pre-registration is now open at www.garagesaletrail.com.au.

Should you have any questions, please contact:-Garage Sale Trail directly via contactus@garagesaletrail.com.au, or-Caitlin Roberts, Bayside City Council’s Climate and Community Mobilisation Officer, via croberts@bayside.vic.gov.au or 03 9599 4805.

Parents Battle of the Bands - Final

Following their rollicking performance at the Southside Parents Battle of the Bands in May, EPS parents band, Lunchbox20 have managed to snatch the coveted Southside wildcard from a red hot field for the Northside v Southside battle final on 12 September!  Appropriately, the final will be held on neutral territory at the Corner Hotel in Richmond.

The comp has been a raging success, with big crowds turning out for the two Southside battles in May followed by sold out Northside shows earlier this month.  The Battle Final will see 3 South and 3 North primary school parents bands battle it out to take out the overall prize.

Can Lunchbox20 "do a Bradbury" and win the whole thing???  With crowd response being a key judging criterion, and a huge EPS turn out in May proving what a fun & fantastic community we are, why not!!!

Get ready for an epic night of great musicianship, showmanship, and community…with the extra feel-good element that profits are donated to the music programs of your primary school. EPS sold the most tickets for the May battle raising ~$2,600 as well as taking home a prize which will see one lucky current grade 6 EPS student receive a teenage musician scholarship at the Rock Academy next year.

Tix to the final are available here (be quick!):

Student Absences

We would like to remind everyone of our school's policy regarding student absences. As part of our commitment to supporting each student’s needs, the Principal has the discretion to excuse absences for the following reasons:

  • Medical and Dental Appointments: If appointments cannot be scheduled outside school hours, they will be excused.
  • Bereavement and Funerals: Absences for attending a funeral of a relative, friend, or Sorry Business are generally excused.
  • School Refusal: If there is a plan in place with the parent to address the causes and support the student's return to school, this absence will be considered.
  • Cultural Observances: Absences for cultural observances will be excused if the school is notified in advance.
  • Family Holidays: Family holidays will also be excused if we are informed beforehand.

Please remember to notify the school in advance for any planned absences. If an explanation is not provided within 10 school days, the absence will be recorded as ‘unexplained’ and noted on the student's file.

Thank you for your attention to this matter and for your continued support.

Babysitting

Hi my name is Poppy,

I am a former Elsternwick primary  student and have experience with younger children because I am the oldest in the family. I am thirteen and currently in year eight, I love playing with kids and I could take them on walks, look after them while you need to go somewhere, pick them up from school and do fun things with them like baking, arts and crafts, sports, games and more. I live in Brighton and I am free most weekends, Fridays, Wednesdays, Mondays and also during holidays.

I would love to help you out !
