Evatt Competition - Model UN Competition
On Friday, 2nd August, we took part in The Evatt Model UN Competition, which is a simulation of the United Nations Security Council.
12 Nossal students, along with peers from Kambrya College and Padua College, formed a total of 15 pairs, each representing a country of the UN.
Our mission was to collaborate and persuade others to reach a consensus on global resolutions, aligning with our country’s stance.
We debated on 2 prepared resolutions related to the pressing issues of poaching and human security in Haiti, as well as an impromptu resolution on plastic pollution.
As delegates, we made speeches, proposed and negotiated changes, and voted on proposals. Sadly, and perhaps realistically, none of the resolutions passed.
However, it was an educational and enjoyable experience that allowed us to practice diplomacy and public speaking. We learnt to engage more in discussions and had fun collaborating with fellow delegates.
