Antique books on display

Snapshots of History

In 2023 VSC staff member Christine Dewberry donated a set of antique books to the College. These range from a five-hundred-year-old copy of the Decameron, 1668 Essays from Sir Francis Bacon, medical books from the 1700's, an arithmetic book from 1760, to a 1925 History set written by H.G Wells.  The books came from the collection of Christines father, Alan Smith who was an avid collector.

Christine has donated the books so that all the college can enjoy them. “They are records of times long past, showing how language, culture and knowledge has developed over the centuries” she said.

On behalf of the college the library thanks Christine for her overwhelming generosity.
