Write a Book in a Day
Congratulations to our team of Year 6 writers and illustrators who took place in this year’s Write a Book in a Day competition which raises money for the Kids Cancer Project.
The team met bright and early in the multi purpose room where they were told what they needed to include in their book – a policeman, a hotel manager, a ferret, a beach setting and the issue was ‘lost voice’. The students spent some time brainstorming story ideas and character traits and planning out the chapters in the book.
Finally it was time for the writing and illustrating. The team worked hard throughout the day collaborating with each other to make their story sound amazing. It was wonderful to see the students using their VCOP skills to up level their writing and include some dazzling descriptions in their work.
By 5.30pm all of the writing, revising, editing and re-reading was finally complete and the students enjoyed a delicious pizza dinner! It was a long and rewarding day where all the students worked hard to produce their fabulous book titled, “The Vanishing Voice”. A big thank you to Miriam, Kascha and Meg who worked with the team throughout the day.
