Sacramental Program

This weekend the children undertaking the Sacramental Program will attend their final Dismissal Mass. They have participated in this program with enthusiasm and dedication over the past month and will celebrate their making of the Confirmation and Eucharist the following weekend of August 24th and 25th. In the week before their celebration the children will attend mass with their teachers and the students from Sacred Heart also undertaking the program. This will allow the children an opportunity to practice with Father Michael the steps they will take and help them to feel more confident. A letter from the parish  outlining the final details will come home next week.  The children will also participate in the traditional “Bread Baking” day where they will bake bread with their teacher and share the symbolic meal.

Feast of the Assumption of Mary

Today is a special day – the feast of the Assumption – when we remember how at the end of her life Mary was taken up to heaven to be with God. Mary is very special because she was chosen by God to be the mother of God's son, Jesus. And Mary says yes to all that God asks of her. As a St. Mary’s church and parish, the Assumption is a very important feast day. To honour Mary today, all the children attended the 10 am mass with the parish. As always, the children made us proud in the way they present themselves in the church and the reverence they showed.
