AGM OF THE PFA OF THE SCHOOL COUNCIL

The next Annual General Meeting of the Belgrave Heights Christian School Parents & Friends Association will be held in the Restaurant at BHCS on Monday, August 12 at 3.45pm.

Belgrave Heights Christian School is operated by an Incorporated Association consisting of eleven members (the School Council) who are appointed by the Presbyterian Church of Victoria.

The School Council has the overall responsibility of governing, overseeing the affairs of, and making strategic decisions in relation to the School. The Parents & Friends Association is an auxiliary of the School Council and its members are able to nominate four parents, who are committed Christians, to be considered for appointment to the Council.

The School Council, as a governing body, does not get involved in the day-to-day management of the School. This responsibility is delegated to the Principal. School Council members are expected to act in the best interests of the school and its students, rather than representing specific subgroups within the school community.

The purpose of this meeting of the Parents and Friends Association is to elect four parents to be nominated for Council positions.

Any successful candidates must then be approved through the Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Victoria.

The Council invites parents who are committed Christians to become members of the Association and to participate in the nomination process. A membership form for those who want to become members can be accessed by clicking here and should be returned to jkrens@bhcs.vic.edu.au

All nominations need to be submitted on a nomination form and meet the required criteria as set out on the form. Those interested in being nominated should request a form from jkrens@bhcs.vic.edu.au

All nominations must be received by the Secretary, Mr Ian Byles, care of Juliette Krens, PA to the Principal, seven days prior to the meeting, Monday, August 5, 2024.

If you are a member of the Parents and Friends Association and are unable to attend this meeting, please email your apologies to Juliette Krens at jkrens@bhcs.vic.edu.au

CHILD SAFETY

Update to BHCS Child Safety Policy

As of 1 July, changes were made to the Reportable Conduct Scheme.  The Reportable Conduct Scheme forms one part of the child safety protocols with which the school must comply.

The term 'employees' as defined in the Reportable Conduct Scheme has now been broadened. Our Child Safety Policy has been updated to reflect these changes.

Our Child Safety Policy is available from our website and can be viewed by clicking here

Additional child safety information that explains the Victorian Standards both in depth and in a simplified form can be found on our website by clicking here

Concerns about child safety can be directed to any of our Child Safety Champions listed on our website; they will be more than happy to connect with you to hear your concerns and find the best way forward.
