F-4 Community News

As we come towards the end of another busy term, we reflect on the many wonderful experiences our students have had over the past few months. From swimming lessons to discos and special events, it has truly been a term filled with excitement and learning.

Our F-2 and Year 3/4 students had a great time at their swimming lessons, improving their swimming skills at the Echuca War Memorial Aquatic Centre. The Mother’s Day Breakfast, Mass and activities in the classroom were a heart-warming way to celebrate all the amazing mothers in our community. The F-6 Disco was a hit with the students, who danced the night away with their friends.

We were proud to see our students participate in SOLE Recognition Day, The Gift Casual Clothes Day and the Reconciliation Week Mass, showing their support for important causes and issues. Our Year 3/4 students also had a great time at the Waranga Winter Sports event, showcasing their sportsmanship and teamwork.

Looking ahead, we are excited for our upcoming events. We invite all parents and caregivers to join us for the F-4 Community Mass on Thursday 20 June at 9:15am. It will be a beautiful opportunity to come together and celebrate as a community. Additionally, we invite you to the F-4 Community Assembly on Friday 28 June at 10am, where you can witness and celebrate the students' learning and achievements.

As we approach the end of the term, we look forward to continuing to support and nurture our students, helping them grow and thrive in all aspects of their education. Thank you to all our students, teachers, staff, and parents for their ongoing support and enthusiasm.

Foundation

Week 7 in the Foundation space was a busy one! It was swimming week! Each day the Foundation students travelled by bus to the Echuca War Memorial Aquatic Centre to participate in their Learn to Swim program. They engaged in swim lessons which involved a water safety program covering personal aquatic survival skills, movement and swimming strokes. The Foundation students loved every minute of swimming week and can not wait to go back next year in Year 1!

Grass Heads

During Core Knowledge we have been learning about plants. As a part of this unit of work we planted grass in cups and attached our photos. After only a few weeks the grass grew long enough for us to cut and style.

We fed Funky - the guinea pig the grass we cut off. He loved it.

Numeracy

In Numeracy, the Foundation students have spent the past two weeks learning about 'Shape'. They have focused on the names and features of simple 2D shapes. Students have engaged in lots of fun activities that have involved drawing and sorting shapes.

Years 1 and 2

What a super week the Year 1/2 students had swimming in Echuca.

It was terrific to see how well behaved our students were and what great listeners they were when following instructions from the swim teachers.

We were impressed with how independent students were at keeping their belongings organised and when getting themselves prepared or changed.

Everyone learned a lot and enjoyed writing about their swimming adventures.

Last week I went swimming in Echuca. Splash! The pool was cold! The best thing was using the life jackets, it was so fun. I love swimming! I am in the sharks group at swimming. I saw my friend. I love using the kick board. I love it, it was the best.

Splash! I went to the pool in Echuca. I had fun on the bus, it was fun. Then I got to see my group. My group was the seahorses. I was kicking and blowing bubbles then I was back stroking. It was amazing, my favourite was diving.

At the bus I talked to Eliza. We went to the Echuca swimming pool, it was a whole week. At swimming, first we got to kick, my feet went splash. I had so much fun. Next we got a life jacket and we went to the deep end. Then we got the noodles, we kicked to the deep end. I love swimming because we got life jackets. The best thing was kicking.

Yay! Last week we went swimming. I had the best time. We went swimming in Echuca. First we got in our group. I was in sharks group. Then we did kick boarding. I was good at it. Next it was the hard bit, getting dressed. It was annoying!

The Grade 2s went to school swimming! It was so fun. First we got on the school bus to Echuca and we got the best bus ever on Wednesday. We had curtains and music! When we arrived at the big pool we got dressed and waited for our shark teacher. We learnt our slide in entry in the shallow end, started to do backstroke and my favourite, freestyle! Then we moved to the deep end with life jackets and learnt how to stay up in the deep.

Our swimming day.

When we were on the bus to go swimming I was excited. And nervous. I didn't know we were swimming at the Echuca pool. But I was happy because it is heated. I was in sea horses group. We started at the shallow end. We moved up the deep end. The reason we were even swimming is to be happy.

Last week we went to the Echuca pool. We went on the bus for a long time. When we got there I was so excited! I could not wait! The Grade 2s had to wait until the Grade 1s got off the bus. After we got off and got our bags then we were off to the pool.

It is finally swimming today, I have been waiting for ever. I am on the same bus as Katie and Marlee...oh the bus is here I am so, so excited now. We got our bags and played until we got dressed. Me and Marlee play football then we sunbathe in the sun. We got dressed and the girls kept screaming so, so loud!

Inquiry

We are continuing our learning about 'Farm to Fridge' in Inquiry lessons. After investigating how we get milk from a farm to our fridge, we have been looking into what cows need to keep them fit and healthy to provide milk for us. It was amazing (and a little stinky) to touch, feel and smell three different types of food that cows eat. We made discoveries about grain, hay and silage.

It was lovely to see us coming together as a whole College dressed with splashes of purple to raise money for The Gift. What a worthy cause!
