Prayer

Some seeds fell on rocky ground

‘Do tell us, Sower, why you cast 

your seed on thorns and rocky ground, 

instead of saving it for fertile soil, 

with greater productivity?’

‘But if my seed on fertile soil

alone does fall, will rocky you

be ever able to care for it 

and so provide a modest crop?’

‘Good Sower, throw your precious seeds

in bucket-loads upon my rock

that some may germinate and grow

and yield more seed for you to sow.’
