Mathematics Adventures

Our Grade 6 students have just completed their units on time and fractions, showcasing their skills in these fundamental areas. They have demonstrated a solid understanding of how to measure time and solve complex fraction problems. Meanwhile, the Grade 5s have wrapped up their unit on angles, where they enhanced their ability to identify and measure various types of angles. They are now embarking on an exciting new unit exploring decimals, which will further develop their numerical and calculation skills.

Engaging English

Engaging English

In English, our Grade 6 students continue to delve into persuasive writing, focusing on the important issue of child labour. They are honing their skills in crafting compelling arguments and supporting their points with evidence. Additionally, they are deeply engaged in reading "Rivet Boy," a book that has sparked thoughtful discussions and enhanced their reading comprehension skills. The Spelling Mastery program continues, and students have settled well into their new rooms for these sessions. For Grade 5, students are captivated by the ongoing reading of "War Horse," complemented by various comprehension activities that help deepen their understanding of the text. They have recently finished their narrative writing unit and are now beginning to explore persuasive writing, learning how to express their opinions effectively.

Topic Exploration

Both grades are continuing their electrifying science unit titled "It's Electrifying," where they explore different types of energy and how energy can be converted. Students have looked at the benefits and negatives of different sustainable energy systems through hands-on experiments and activities.

Cyber Safety for Grade 6

This week, our Grade 6 students have been working through a cyber safety unit, covering important topics such as the pros and cons of social media, how to chat safely online, and understanding phishing. This unit aims to equip our students with the knowledge and skills to navigate the online world safely and responsibly.

Farewell to Dara Blake

Finally, it is with a heavy heart that we say farewell to one of our senior team teachers. Dara Blake finished up today at Sacred Heart to make the move back to Ireland. Dara has been a vital part of our team, guiding us in the R.E. and Maths curriculum. His dedication, wealth of knowledge, and passion for teaching have greatly enriched our school community. Dara's engaging teaching style and his commitment to student growth have made a lasting impact on both students and colleagues. We wish him all the best on his next adventure; he will be truly missed.
