Junior School News

We've successfully made it to the end of our first semester! We hope everyone has a wonderful break, taking the time to relax and recharge. It's been a fantastic journey so far, and we’re excited to continue it with you. We look forward to seeing you all in two weeks as we kick off Term 3 with renewed energy and enthusiasm.

Prep News

The Preps ended this term on a high note by reaching 10 stars in their jar! We are so proud of their hard work, good behaviour, and teamwork. To celebrate, we had a wonderful Teddy Bears Picnic with songs, a story, hot chocolate, marshmallows, and a special teddy bear biscuit!

In MSL, we have been reviewing everything we learned this term, including the rules of closed syllables, open syllables, silent 'e' syllables and irregular words. To consolidate their learning, students created Closed/Open Syllable dog houses.

A standout moment during MSL this week was observing our Preps in their fluency pairs and seeing how well they understood the expectations. During this time, students were engaged and attentive, tracking their partner's reading with great focus. It's no wonder our jars have 10 stars!

In Maths, our focus this week was on reviewing what we learned this term, particularly numbers up to 20 and 2D shapes. The children participated in a range of different activities throughout the week.

"An adjective is a word that describes a noun"

We were once again blown away by the Preps engagement during TWR this week and our focus on adjectives.

Year One News

We are sad to say "see you soon" to Charlotte, who is moving back to Sydney with her family. Charlotte has been a wonderful part of our Year One class, bringing enthusiasm and friendship to everyone. We will miss her dearly and wish her all the best in her new school. On Thursday, we had a party to let Charlotte know she will always have friends here who remember her fondly and wish her success in her new adventure.

In MSL students reinforced their learning from this term with a review of different syllables words.

In morphology students learned how adding the suffix 's' to make base words  makes them plural.

In TWR students converted fragments to sentences.

In Maths, students had a fun time reviewing place value and enjoyed creating monsters using MABs! They built creatures using hundreds, tens, and ones blocks, which sparked their creativity and deepened their understanding of numbers.

Our Topic lesson focused on exploring sound through high and low pitch, with a specific emphasis on practicing dolphin echolocation. Students engaged in activities that demonstrated how sound waves travel differently depending on their pitch, mimicking the process dolphins use to navigate and locate objects underwater.

Year Two News

Students reviewed adjectives, adverbs, and  writing sentences incorporating the subordinating conjunctions if, before, and after.

In Maths, our Year Two students created posters showcasing various methods for representing 100, including addition, subtraction, number lines, arrays, and word problems. Alongside this, they revised addition and subtraction of two-digit numbers using playing cards and mental strategies, focusing on three-step execution.

Special buddy time doing green hats, dancing and drawing!
