Year One
Each week, the Year One cohort ventures down to the gym to participate in our Perceptual Motor Program (PMP). We have so much fun using a variety of equipment during activities which include running, hopping, skipping, jumping, balancing, crawling, climbing, throwing, catching, bowling, sliding, etc.
The PMP aims to develop students' perceptions and understandings of themselves and their world through movement experiences. It develops gross motor skills, fine motor skills, balance, visual and spatial awareness and bilateral coordination. It also assists in the development of their relationship with peers and the surrounding environment, and aids concentration and reasoning, giving a sound basis for future formal learning.
Every week at PMP we have a lot of laughs, smiles and fun. It’s been fantastic to observe the children learning physical independence and personal satisfaction in being able to do things for themselves.
Thank you to Miss Wilson who runs this each week with the students!
