Specialist Feature News: Performing Arts

Selamat Siang,

Over the last few weeks in Performing Arts we have been exploring our voices and how we warm up our instruments (our vocal chords) before using them to avoid doing damage to them. In Years 3 and 4, the students have been exploring songs about friendship and how to identify attributes of a healthy friendship, through the music we listen to and perform.  They also have created "crazy aliens" through a listening and immersion activity where we explored a space theme to tie in with the Science Space Dome incursion this week.

Here are a few of our crazy alien creatures!

Years 1 and 2 have revised songs we learnt earlier in the Term and created musically colour coded rockets to demonstrate their understanding of one way music is measured and written.  We looked at four beat notes, two beat notes, one beat notes and a half beat note; identifying that there was a mathematical pattern to observe also.

"The notes are reducing by half each time!" Ryan 1/2M

Here are  a few of their note-based rockets:

The Senior Primary students in years 5 and 6 participated in a Drama workshop where they were given three themes to base a short role play upon. The themes were courage, mateship (friendship) and forgiveness.  Here are a few photos of their performances:

MPRPS' Got Talent is coming up!

Due to unforeseen circumstances creating a delay in the previously outlined timeline, auditions concluded on Thursday 20th June, Week 10. The announcement of the finalists in the Talent Show will be made on Monday 24th June, Week 11 in the Hall.  I have been so proud of all the courage, passion and talent of our students who came forward to audition.
