Da Vinci Decathlon
Isabella Ciavarella, Year 10, Ridgeway Campus
Last term 8 students from Ivanhoe Grammar School participated in the Da Vinci Decathlon hosted at Camberwell Grammar School. The Da Vinci Decathlon is an academic competition designed to challenge and stimulate the minds of school students from multiple schools. Students compete in teams of eight across 10 disciplines: engineering, mathematics, code breaking, art and poetry, science, english, ideation, creative producers, cartography, and legacy.
Our group delegated across the different topic areas to focus on their strengths. We showcased the values of teamwork and collaboration throughout the entire day and had a bunch of fun tackling difficult problems with enthusiasm. One of my favourite branches was the code breaking section because it required all our input to decipher intricate codes and puzzles.
Reflecting on the experience, we all enjoyed facing intellectual challenges and the satisfaction of overcoming them together. The Da Vinci Decathlon not only provided a platform for learning and growth but also proved to be a fun and rewarding opportunity to push our boundaries and test our skills. Overall, it was such a fantastic learning experience, reinforcing the value of cooperation, critical thinking, and it was ultimately a great challenge.
