 Service at Ivanhoe

Victoria Sze, Year 12, Ridgeway Campus

Service at Ivanhoe Grammar School is a fundamental umbrella of co-curriculars that countless passionate students take part in. As Service and Healthy Lifestyle Prefect alongside Edward Redlich, we have both participated in numerous service opportunities that the school offers.

The fortnightly Service and Outreach Committee, unites passionate students who share ideas and collaborate on service initiates. Throughout the year, collective efforts have led to significant progress, thanks to the dedication of both students and teachers.  This year, students have organised initiatives including the Christmas appeal, the stationery drive and Ration Challenge. These fundraising and charity events have been a way students can give back and support local and global communities to enhance their awareness of issues that require our support.

Looking ahead, several service events are planned for the upcoming term. The World to Dinner event will feature mystery meals to promote awareness of food insecurity. Following this, Casual for a Cause aligns with RUOK Day, which encourages students to wear casual clothes to promote mental health awareness. RUOK Day emphasises the importance of meaningful conversations in supporting others through difficult times and will income student led activities such as a walkathon, push-up challenge and a house bake sale.

I am excited about these upcoming events and the opportunity they present to make a difference. As my time at Ivanhoe comes to an end, I look forward to the new initiates that the prefects of 2025 will establish.
