Aerobics

Aerin Winther, Year 11, Ridgeway Campus

The aerobics program at Ivanhoe Grammar School is thriving, with over 70 girls from Years 7 to 12 joining at the start of the year. The program includes Wednesday morning trainings, where the girls are coached externally through Melbourne Gym Schools, teaching us all we need to know about the sport. Recently, all teams competed in the state Aeroschool Championships, going up against other schools around Victoria, including Ivanhoe Girls' Grammar School, Our Ladies College, and Yarra Valley Grammar.

The competition was filled with excitement, allowing everyone to showcase their skills in multiples, groups, and aero-dances across divisions A, B, and C. The girls performed exceptionally well, demonstrating all they've learned in our Wednesday morning training sessions and giving their best to qualify. It was so amazing seeing how much effort they all put into making their routines as good as they can be. Their hard work paid off, with Ivanhoe Grammar School achieving remarkable results: 4 state champion teams, 4 silver medal teams, and 2 bronze medal teams, along with 3 fourth places, 1 fifth, and 2 sixth places—leading to two-thirds of the team qualifying.

Overall, everyone did an incredible job, and we were thrilled to take home first place overall for the first time! From here, all qualifying teams will head to the National Aeroschool Championships on the Gold Coast, where national champions will be crowned.
