Kelli Underwood Visits Buckley House!
Sophie Tan, Year 6, Buckley House
The visit from Kelli Underwood was very interesting and inspiring, especially when we learned about her experience as a motivational role model for women.
Kelli Underwood was the first female commentator in the AFL and the students at Buckley House were all very excited about her visit and what she has learned and how we can improve ourselves as a better character.
One of the things Kelli has taught us to do is to make mistakes. She has learnt that by making mistakes you learn more about yourself and that it's not failure if you make a mistake, but a helpful thing in your journey.
Another thing that Kelli told us about was to be influential to those around you. It allows others to be impacted to do the right thing.
Finally, Kelli talked about being collaborative with others and learning what you can take away from others. This way you can also learn new things from them and have people to talk to about your opinions and ideas.
To conclude, the Year 6 students have learnt many things from Kelli Underwood, and we have all been encouraged to follow in her footsteps and change the world for the better. We are all very grateful and thankful for her visit to us.
On Thursday the 30 May, the Year 6 students and their foundation year buddies took part in several activities in acknowledgment of National Reconciliation Week.
The Foundation students watched a short video about what reconciliation means and then the Year 6 students helped their buddies to write down what they thought about this topic. They all were given an A4 piece of paper with patterns on them that had a banner which said now more than ever for National Reconciliation Week.
