Celebrating Learning

Mathematics News
Well done to all students for working well to progress in mathematics this semester.
Foundation to Year 2 have focused on counting and place value skills, creating patterns, and applying this knowledge to addition and subtraction.
Year 3 to 6 students have been working on their fluency in multiplication and division facts, time and area.
Congratulations to a small group of Year 5/6 students who have been participating in a weekly research project promoted through Melbourne University this term (more news to follow next term as they complete their research).
Year 5/6 Maths Towns
Perimeter/Area and Volume
Thank you to Year 5/6 students for sharing your learning of perimeter/area and volume through the 'Town exhibit' . Great effort!
What engaging, hands-on learning, Mrs Chamberlain and Mrs Bowen.
Thank you to the families who were able to view the students' work. We hope you enjoyed their presentation.
Over the holidays, please continue counting at home, talk about maths at home, get your child to use/talk about money over the holidays, and practise times tables.
Enjoy the holiday break.

Montessori Students' Visit to St Peter's
Celebrating Our Journey: Every Step, Every Lesson, Every Achievement
These visits are designed to create a positive and supportive introduction to the school environment, helping children feel prepared and excited for the transition to formal education.
The students listened to a story about 'Farmer Fred's Cow', then made finger puppets and happily sang 'Old Mac Donald Had a Farm'. Then, they were fascinated with the Bee-Bots as they were introduced to the basics of coding and programming in a simple and engaging way. They learned to input commands to move the robot, which helped them understand sequencing and logic.
I am sure they will have stories to tell when they reach home !
Mrs DeVisser
Language Experience Approach
Mrs Sabatino had the students make chocolate crackles. Using cooking activities as part of the Language Experience Approach (LEA) in education offers several benefits. Cooking is a highly engaging activity that can motivate reluctant learners to participate and enjoy the learning process.
